2 Years of Crap Radio Blog…. By Hoch
Believe it or not, on September 1st, 790 The Ticket and the Dan LeBatard Show will have been broadcasting for 2 years. Hard to believe we’re coming up on our two year anniversary of our brand of crap radio. The show has definitely changed over the course of two years. Does anyone remember the 1st show? (I wasn’t a part of the show yet, but I was listening at home… excited to hear my good friend Dan finally do a local sports show. Wow, was that first show bad. You couldn’t even hear Dan over his breathing- he was so nervous.)
Over the course of the last two years we’ve had some pretty amazing guests on, including: Andre Agassi, Bob Costas, Will Ferrell, Evander Holyfield, Terrell Owens, Donovan McNabb, Sugar Ray Leonard, Dwyane Wade, Curt Schilling, Scottie Pippen, Don Shula, Jose Canseco, Jimmy Johnson, Michael Irvin, Elton Brand, Don Rickles, Dontrelle Willis, Ice Cube, Mike Singeltary, Shaun Alexander, Bobby Bowden, Manny Ramirez, Clinton Portis, OJ Simpson, Bruce Jenner, Chuck Norris, Edgerrin James, Ray Lewis, Bud Selig, Charles Barkley, Hulk Hogan, Grant Hill, Joe Montana, Tony Larussa, Ozzie Guillen, Pat Riley, and many, many others. We truly have had on some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment; I made this list off the top of my head. I’m sure I’m forgetting some top notch guests we’ve had on.
Over the course of two years we’ve definitely had our share of disasters on the show. There are a lot of painful moments when you listen to the show on a regular basis. My personal favorite disaster was our first interview with Dolphin legend Larry Csonka. He came on expecting to hear questions like, “What was it like playing for Don Shula?” Instead, he got questions like “Is the thrill of the kill when hunting the same as the thrill of a big hit in football?” He didn’t like Dan’s line of questioning, and it became an instant radio disaster. I could listen to that interview over and over. (Csonka came on with us a second time, and it went much better.)
So… to get to the point of this blog… Please share with us some of your favorite memories or disasters over the past two years. Tell us when you became a regular listener to the show… Or tell us when you stopped listening regularly. Be brutally honest with us. Favorite memories… worst memories… things we do well… things we do poorly… This is an open forum, and we want to hear what you really think of the show after two years.
