Kimbo Watch Party… By Hoch

Our Kimbo Fight Watch Party is Saturday, May 31st at Boomers in Dania Beach, and I think in my previous blog I may have explained it poorly and made it sound like there’s a $20 cover charge… There is NO COVER CHARGE. Everyone is welcome, and we want as many people to show up as possible. What I meant to write in my previous blog was that Boomers is doing a special that night just for our listeners… For $20 you can get a card that essentially lets you do everything at Boomers that night except the roller coaster. But you don’t have to buy that card- it’s your option. You’re more than welcome just to come and hang out and watch the Kimbo fight with us.
So make plans to join everyone from The Dan LeBatard Show at Boomers in Dania Beach on Saturday, May 31st starting around 8pm… The fight card starts at 9pm and is supposed to end around 11pm. There’ll be plenty of beer, food, rides, and fun… So Suey to you and see you there.

I am going to contiue from the prevouis blog with stuff from Jai Alai.
I mentioned that I was in Line with Steve White the program directory of the station. There were about 4 guys in front of us that were talking up Steve about the station but when the got there beers their last coment was “Zas sucks, get rid of Zas”. So, I explained to Steve my call to Zas (go back a couple of blogs I posted about it) and that he was a rude, little prick that does not know sports. Well Steve just said that Zas needs work and that Zas need work on his temper. I came away with the impression that this useless fuck will be around for a while.
I think I proposed this in the past but I think if all the Zas haters flood his phone lines and expose this prick MAYBE we can get him off the air. No more Zas, No Mas Zas.
BTW: Sid sucks also and he is evil. He has evil in his eyes. Trust me this degerate will start drinking, snorten and whoren at some point. Sid is a bad man. Sid is someone that I want to stay far, far away from. He honestly scares me and I don’t scare easily. AND YES I AM SEROUS.

AI find it humerous that Zaslow thinks he knows hoops. This guy continues to be wrong going back to saying Dallas would win the West. He gets a show and thinks he knows ball because he has season tickets. The guy could not get one Division 3 scholarship and if this was the North East or anywhere else the guy would not be on the air.

Zas knows nothing about sports in general. No baseball, no football, no baseball and he probably thinks hockey is played with a ball. PLUS the fact he is a rude little fucker. I expressed my issues with Steve White and I think it was King that sent a letter to him stating the same; at this point I just say don’t listen, apply more pressure and when the numbers come out apply more pressure. I can’t make the Kimbo watch party but if any of y’all do ask Steve why this fuck is on the air. If you don’t know Steve he is the tallest man in the room. Still I think if we the Hochamaniacs as a force pick a day an ruin his show for a night and do that once a week maybe we can make the bitch Zas cry. I know I just conterdicted myself.
Zas was not at Jai Alai he had to work after the Marlins game. I would expect him to be at the Kimbo Watch Party. So give that fuck grief.
Me I got thru the rain on Saturday and got the pork steaks smoked and to I will be be at the Marlins games. As Erin Banks would say “Let’s play two”. and they will. Bonus I am in a Suite.
Hoch and all the Hochamanics have a great holiday weekend and remember MEN died to give us this freedom to give our opinion.

man, you guys are persistent with the zaslow hate.. and it still confounds me. There is no pleasing any of you guys.. I listen to zaslow almost every day and I think he’s really good.. heres the bottom line.. he’s on 7-10, which isn’t a prime spot in terms of listenership.. its not like they have him doing drive time, so relax a little bit.. as for the complaints, it sounds like you guys are bringing you’re own baggage to the table on this one.. your evidence of him being rude is one example when YOU personally called the show.. he’s not any different than howard stern or le batard in the sense that IDIOT callers piss him off, as they would any host. He gives credit to callers all the time, when they make a good point, which is a positive sign for a host, that he is able to accept that he is not always right. he’s not perfect, and he’s young.. give the man the some time guys, he’s a good voice to have in this market..

anyway the Zaslow complaints are still warranted. hes young but thats not what i dislike about him. its the fact that he consistently sounds like he only knows 70% of what hes talking about. i also try to get informed when i listen to 790. note to Zaslow: knowing all of the HEAT team roster doesnt make you a radio host…

Now I have listened to Asslow when he was on Boog’s show and Sedano’s and he brought nothing…
So he works Saturdays, Sundays, 7-10pm, 12-3am…whatever…

TC, I don’t proof at home the lettering is to small. I uninstalled Office 07 and haven’t gotten around to installing Office 03. So no spell chekcer. I do in general like Steve White but 2 dissessions he made I don’t agree with. Giving Zas his own show and letting Boog go. I don’t know how much the Marlins had to do with Boog not being on the broadcast. Oh plus the fact when I wrote my last message I just sat through Sundays doubleheader with all I could drink free beer. Yeah I was a bit smashed.

the pictures from jai-alai are on 790theticket.com scrool to bottom… and steve white didn’t “let boog go” he quit because of the burden of having to call 150 braves games AND radio show in another state.. it was too much work and he wanted to get his life back so he stopped doing the radio show, nothing steve white could do about it.. and who would you have liked to see get the 7-10 pm show instead of zaslow? is he not the most qualified at this point? he’s been here since 790’s inception and done the dirty work of being a producer for 2 different shows, so he deserves this opportunity. Now if in a year and a half zaslow’s ratings are dreadful and its clear no one is interested in the show, then obviously thats when steve white will make a move.. but i think zaslow will do just fine in his time slot

lol dont work for the station never have.. and your right boog should be doing marlins games, there is something we can agree on.. hes the best play by play man in the game.. a lot better than rich waltz.. he did radio play by play in 2003 but i guess it didnt work out with the organization… the mets offered him the radio play by play gig in 2006 but he turned it down to keep doing the radio show and his occasional espn play by play duties.. my guess is that the offer of doing all braves games on TV and not radio, and being the voice of the braves was too much to pass up which is why he left the radio show… and craig mish is awful.. he had on decrepit crank oldberg for 15 minutes to tell awful stories from the 1930’s..

just to shoot down those hosts.. goldie cant do a weekly show over a whole year because he’s the play by play guy for the panthers so he cant commit to a show, thats why he only fills in/ and does weekends, but hes good.. defo left the station on bad terms, had bad ratings and is at another sports station in this market, the newest one.. and the dos amigos are even less qualified to zaslow, having only been here for a year, the nod had to go to zaslow, he deserved the opportunity..

Sherryl, no they don’t all stink. I will leave that as it’s stands. You are correct these do tend to become trash talk against Zas. But if you ever have heard him or called him you would understand the hatered. If you go back a blog or two you would see my post when I was just asking Zas about comments he made about the Dontrell, Cabrerra trade. It seems Zas didn’t like that and never answered my question. AS a fan of the team I thought he might say okay I was wrong and Bienfest is the best GM in baseball, but no. He becaem hostel. Sherryl, I just wanted to say that and you are right this is a Kimbo watch party blog and we should focus on that. Why when you guys had an opportunity to confront Steve White at last week’s event about Zas’s show that none of the “haters’ had one ball between your legs to walk up to him and tell him to his face just how much y’all detest Zas’ show and to take it off the air. Instead, y’all cowarded and hid from site. Once in a lifetime opportunity to give Steve White a chance to look in the eye and give his reasons why Zas has a show on 790, but none of you did. sandeel, Several reasons for uninstalling Office 07. I hate the GUI, I am sending out resumes and some of the jobs I have appiled for can’t open a Docx file and I am also a Beta tester for it at work and we have had some problems. Really I could install both but 03 seems to be okay. BTW I am really not a fan of Vista and since MS is coming out with a new OS next year it seems that the MAC commercials loudly speak the truth.

I think we know where the Hochamaniacs stand on Asslow…Everyone has their own reasons, everyone is entitled to them…The fact is the he’s been given a time slot…and ultimately the only thing that will get him off the air are poor ratings…

The Zuffa’s and White have done everything to make themselves the “major league” of MMA…however the title is self proclaimed and fabricated at best…why?
UFC purchased Pride..and then wiped their asses with their champions
UFC purchased WEC…and is running them as a second tier show on Versus.
They purchased the WFA and shut them down as they did Pride..
White continues to create stars…the same way the Elite XC is building up Kimbo…so why the “hate”?
Brock Lesner lost his first match to Frank Mir…and ruined all of Dana’s plans…his new plan?
Bring the “hero” / The Next Big Thing..back home to fight in front of his hometown…and save face
What can I say about the Zuffa’s…anyone know Michael Tata…VP of Hotel Operations for Green Valley Ranch that died of an OD? Well, the reality show went on after his death…
What I find odd…CBS and Spike TV are owned by Viacom…so why is the UFC not running nationally broacasted shows on CBS for free? Cause White and the Zuffa’s are all about the Benjamin’s…
Let’s call a spade a spade…either Elite XC will be bought out within a year, or Kimbo is going to get big bucks to jump ship…
Would I blame him? not one bit…I just find it very interesting that Dana is talking smack about Kimbo…and in reality is kicking himself more and more as we get closer to Saturday night.

Observations from Kimbo Watch Party
1- Service at the bar was absolutely HORRIBLE. I literally waited 15 minutes to get my first beer. I would have bought more if I didn’t have to wait so long between them.
2- NJ gaming commission/refs/docs stopped the fights too early.
3- Thompson’s ear was almost as big as the fist around Kimbo’s neck.
4- Lebby is much taller than I thought, he is actually borderline menacing looking.

I missed the watch Kimbo party but I was at another party way the fuck out west. Lots of MMA fans rooting against Kimbo. I am not an MMA expert but my friends didn’t have kind words to say and the fight I think was stopped a bit early. But Kimbo’s opponent what was up with the ear. He should have had that thing drained. I think the blood coming from his ear was his downfall.
But the fight that was stopped way to early was the Lawler fight. Yeah there was a bit of an eye gouge but WTF both guys wanted to go. That was the great fight until it was called.
Kimbo needs to work on stamina. Kimbo run and swim for distance when you train.

Kimbo fought a good contest last night…thoughts from the show:
Elite XC was doing everything to make this show big…fireworks, dancers, etc…this is what they do on all their shows.
I think that Carano did awesome…she is one bad girl!!!
NJ State Atheletic Doctor robbed Smith last night…he is entitled to 5 minutes to get his shit together and she called him off…
Kimbo again, good match, Thompson had something to prove…he should have drained his ear…
Post Show Press Conference Rogers and Kimbo had a war of words, I guess this is the next big show for Elite XC…Bas needs to really get Kimbo ready for someone like Rogers…
He needs to work on the ground game…the probelm becomes he very big and it’s hard to get a ground game from someone who just started MMA.
All the haters…keep hatin’…everyone was inexperienced at one time in their career.
Now, I don’t know if the NJAC are just a bunch of chicken shits, or the fact that this was on national tv had to do with the quick stoppages, etc…
seems to me that all of these fights would have gone on at least another 5-10 seconds…with some possible recoveries or someone really get hurt…
Either way good show…4 out of 5 KO’s/TKO’s…

Lets get real folks, that event was a sham and an embarrassment to MMA. The fighters were minor leaguers. If you got excited watching that, then you don’t know MMA at all. Do you get excited watching the WNBA or minor league baseball?
Lawler and his opponent were a combined 5-7 in UFC before they got the boot.
Kimbo is lazy and thus was gassed half way through the first round. At 34 years of age, he has ZERO chance of ever being a legit star in MMA outside of the circus known as EXC. In fact, the production was bordering pro wrestling with the dancing ho’s and the rappers. What a joke. Not only that, i’ve never seen a guy get elbowed for a straight minute on the ground without defending himself (Kimbo) and the match not stopped; but yet, they sure stopped that 3rd round mighty quick didn’t they?? Smells like a work.
Lebby, I hope you stop nuthugging Kimbo just because he lived in his car…wow, what a great story. Give me a break! There are probably minor leaguers all over the country that struggled here from another country or something; but because they are not in the bigs we don’t give them any attention. The same should be done with Kimbo.

Manuel - No I hate the WNBA, I wish ESPN and NBC would stop cramming it down our throats and it would just go away. Minor league baseball on the other hand is great. Where do you think the guys in MLB came from? Duh. I had a friend that lived in Louisville when the Cardinals had their triple A club there. He told me about seeing Cardinal greats from the late 70’s and the 80’s before they became big leaguers. I have another friend from Charleston, SC that spoke highly of going to River Dogs games and seeing future Yankee greats. So Manuel keep listening to Zas and stay uneducated.
As far as MMA as I have stated I’m not really a big fan. BUT I was entertained last night but thought some of the matches were cut short. The telecast did go over the time limit, not sure if maybe CBS had something to do with the shorten matches. Will I watch again? Maybe, I liked the CBS show better than what I have seen on VS.

I never blamed Kimbo once (read my post again). I would never blame anyone for getting paid, this is America. What I blame is the media that has rallied around a person, with very little talent within the sport, to make the face of MMA. Simple as that.
Don’t you watch major sports to see quality? Don’t you enjoy watching the best teams play? I know I do, that’s why I don’t watch the WNBA no matter how much they try to shove it down our throat.
My point about Kimbo and the EXC is that it’s 3rd rate, at best. All the fighters in that league would be lucky to undercard in the UFC (or Pride when it existed).
I didn’t feel Lesnar deserved the hype he got; but you know what, he faught a talented former UFC World Champion in his first fight. A guy who knew jui jitsu.

At the end of the day though, forget about the money discussions, forget about marketability and all that shit.
Plain and simple, that fight sucked, there is no defending that. Kimbo looked horrible and reports have the fans booing him at the end of the decision. He’s known to party a bit too hard and thus his stamina is pathetic. These are all facts. I tuned hoping to be proved wrong, hoping that Kimbo has improved because he’s training with Bas Rutten; but (as Stugotz loves to say) at the end of the day, if any of us trained with ARod or Big Papi we still wouldn’t even come close to hitting a baseball like them and Kimbo should just stick to boxing not MMA.

Kimbo is getting marketed for MMA…yes he is inexperienced in the ground game, he has a lot to learn…don’t think that Kimbo is the only athlete that parties too hard…his stamina will get better, and he will get better…and as I said earlier…give it a year and Dana White will go after him with a contract.
National MMA Ranking System…more TV exposure…and less Network intervention…I still believe all those fights got stopped too early cause they were on National TV…too many people in this world still think someone will die in the octagon and the network can’t afford to take that chance…
