We’re Going To Jai-Alai Again… By Hoch
June 5th, 2008
We’re heading over to Dania Jai-Alai again… this time on Wednesday, June 18th… We’re going to have a lot going on that night… so pay attention! First of all, we’re going to have 100 commemorative “Play With My Pelotas” t-shirts, but this time to get the shirts you’re going to have to e-mail me at cantstanddan@790theticket.com and get on the t-shirt list. I want to avoid what happened last time, when people who just happened to be at Dania Jai-Alai saw us giving away shirts and just came up and grabbed them. I want the shirts to go to actual listeners, so e-mail me at cantstanddan@790theticket.com and if you’re one of the first 100 listeners to confirm you’re coming, you’ll receive an e-mail back from me telling you you’re on the t-shirt list and telling you how to pick it up that night.
In addition to the shirts, we’re going to give away a lot of great prizes that night, including a Nintendo Wii. All you’re going to have to do is come out that night and put your name in the register to win box and after every game we’ll pull out a name and give away a great prize. Not only do we have a brand new Nintendo Wii to give away, but also a $100 gift certificate to Texas De Brazil, a Marlins 4 pack of VIP tickets that will get you VIP treatment at the game, and more! We had a great time the last time we were at Dania Jai-Alai and this time we’re going to be giving away a lot more stuff, so make sure you join us. (It’s Wednesday night, June 18th starting at 7pm and going until about 11:00pm…) Also, don’t forget Dania Jai-Alai does dollar hot dogs and dollar beers on Wednesday nights, so it’s gonna be a cheap night!
Dan and I and some others from the radio station went to jai-alai last night just to have fun… I couldn’t believe how many young, hotties were crawling around Dania Jai-Alai last night. I’m not even joking… The place was crawling with young people, and lots of college girls. I always thought that I still fit in with young people… I thought that I could still pass for a college kid, but according to Kenny “The Intern” who was with us last night, I’m just a creepy 38 year old. That was a buzz kill. Kenny got killed playing poker, so I was happy about that.
The most exciting thing to happen last night at Dania Jai-Alai was that Roy Bellamy, one of our underpaid employees, won a $380 trifecta! Roy’s gonna get to eat! Always exciting to see Roy do well!
So, that’s the scoop… Join us at Dania Jai-Alai on Wednesday, June 18th and you might win a Nintendo Wii… And if you want one of the commemorative “Play With My Pelotas” t-shirts, be one of the first 100 people to e-mail me at cantstanddan@790theticket.com.

Hey, just in case any one is confused it is Wednesday night, June 18th.
I’m there, are the lines going to be shorter? Or am I going to have to two fist my beers again?

Uhm, Hock, you need to check your calendra. June 16th. is a Monday. Maybe you guys are going on the 18th. instead. Just a clarification. Have a good day.

Hochman does not make mistakes! He is only insuring true Hochamaniacs make it. Only the dedicated few who faithfully read the whole thing will see that he ingeniously self-corrects later in the blog. The meaningless multitudes who only read the headline and the first sentence will suffer the unimaginable consequences when they show on the 16th.

WAXY Promotions are a bunch of cheap asses…you guys are giving away a 100 gift certificate to Teax De Brasil?? Let me guess you paid $50 for it…
VIP Treatment to the Marlins game…will be get to see batting practice?
Nintendo Wii…alright who at teh station has punished their children for bad grades this year and took their Nintendo Wii away???

I don’t need a prize to go to JaiLai, being there is reward enough.
8. Sherryl | June 5th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Maybe Hoch was using a 1960’s calender that he barrowed from one of the Jai Alai offices when he wrote this blog.

I was at the last Jai Alai event. I’m not sure I can make this one, but I’ll try.
Hass, nice suggestion on the Kimbo blog that Hoch’s fans all sit in the middle.

King,
At least they have more prizes than last time. Dan kept promoting Marlin tickets and they only had the one set of 4 VIP. My buddy thought they should have given out more tickets. At least just regular game day tickets. Especially since they are the flagship station of the team. I agree, hint, hint, hint.
sandeel, thanks and it was middle - front rows. I will be there.

Kingofloserville hopefully spelling class is next on your agenda

I’ve been pretty harsh on Kimbo, the mma fighter, but Kimbo the person is real and sounds like a cool dude.
The fact that he said that he lost some of his aura makes me respect him a hell of a lot. That is very important in MMA, every one loses and even though so many fighters talk shit, you have to have some humility.
I totally predict and expect for him to knockout that mohawk dude. That guy has no ground game either.

I think the Dos have done a good job and some nights they are not on. Give them 7-10

Hochamaniacs and friends, for those who can make it. Front and center. Center section, first 5 rows. Sit there, I was in row two last time. The station took up half the first 3 or 4 rows, that would include Dan’s parents.
Hoch, are you planning chalking off some seating for the station, Hochamaniacs, and friends of the show. Also, special guest. WHO if any? Joey sat behind me as well as you last time. I didn’t really have anything to say to Joey but the expression on his face told volumes about the Suey Spectacular. Also is this event now referred to as “Hoch’s Jai Alai Night”? You also mentioned that there were lots of hotties the other night. Does that mean that there were more people than normal? I stated I was there in March and the place was dead. Really there were about 2 dozen people watching the match. What was the head count when you were there? And why doesn’t Dania Jai Alai advertise the $1 Wednesday Nights? Just some thoughts.
Also for the Zas haters. The Marlins are in Seattle that night. So no, Zas will not be there. He will be broadcasting the stench as we all know as the Zaslow Show. BTW notice if you cut Zas’ name in half the second part is just LOW. I don’t know what a Zas is but I do know he is a LOW form of life. Maybe even the lowest. El es un cucaracha.
15. King of Loserville | June 6th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
my bad on the spelling…
Kimbo is going to crush the Fro-Hawk…
Hass…it’s all good man…think about how many radio stations here do anythign for the listeners…
The other day I looked at some pics from another station’s event and everyone sat up front “press conference / panel style”
Hoch…waht happened to doing some events in Miami? I don’t mind driving but come on man…Gas is at $4/gallon
16. Hassenpfeffer | June 6th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
King, they have stuff around the station. 72 Dolphin parade, the shrimp thing. I would go to MIA.
17. cc | June 6th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
Hass, the word Zas means not athletic, speaks about sports which he knows nothing about and could not play a lick. Did you see his bio, he sits with his people, who the heck is he a scrub at 5′5
18. manuel | June 6th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
Guys, remember Hoch lives in Boca so it works better for him not to have to drive home from Miami at 10 or 11 pm.
I live in West Palm and i’m not complaining about driving to Dania.
19. Hassenpfeffer | June 6th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
I live in Hallandale so Daina is fine but yeah Hoch lives in Boca so I understand the Daina thing. It’s on his way home.
I just got back from Gulfstream. Jorge from the Neil Rogers show was there. Well the show was there without Neil of coarse. Neils is back in Toranto Anyway I never met Jorge and it’s 3 blocks from home, so I stopped by. One of the guys from the station just out of the blue asked me if I wanted 2 tickets to Sundays Marlins - Reds game. Of course being a fan I said yes. WOW (hint, hint, hint) they are in right field but who cares. The VIP pack is nice but why isn’t Samson or someone from the Marlins out at these event just giving out tickets. It’s not like they are going to sell them. And Yes I do go to ballgames and pay but as already stated anything free is good.
Jorge was just like he was on the radio. I am going to go out in a few weeks when Suds is going to join him. I will let y’all know if there are any Neil, Jorge or old Rick and Suds fans. If anyone goes, afterwards we can go down to 790 and demand that we be given the 7-10 slot. Or at least wait for Zas to get to work and kick his ass.

manuel, I don’t need a prize to go to jai alia either. Look at it this way. I don’t need a prize to go to a baseball game but I will take the floppy hat, BBQ set, umbrella and what ever else they give out. It’s a nice memento. Anything free is good.
I think “Anything Free is Good” should be the theme here…..and of course jai alai.
21. cc | June 7th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
Alright fellas, we can listen to the radio this afternoon as NO ZASLOW . Keep it going 790
22. King of Loserville | June 7th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
If it’s free it’s for me…
Manuel any thought on UFC 85??
Did you see Matt Hughes on Saturday Night during Elite XC, he was part of one of the fighters ring crews…
Action wise it will be good…I am sure, as far has names that will draw a lot of buys…I’m not sure if this one will do it…
The whole PPV has gone sour since Lidell pulled out…
23. hoops | June 8th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Props to Mish and Goldie for doing a good job and all others on the weekend. Thank you for sparing us from Zaslow.
24. manuel | June 9th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
UFC 85 was the ppv that could’ve been; but both “Shogun” Rua and Chcuk Liddell ended up hurt and thus you got a sub-par ppv in terms of names; but the action was pretty decent.
I will say, how much has the level of the UFC risen over the last few years when a guy like Matt Hughes is looking like a journeyman thesse days.
I am happy with UM Baseball. Any fans out there?
BTW, how stupid is it that you are the #1 seed in the country and home field advantage is decided by an f’n coin flip? Are you kidding? NCAA, get your heads out of your asses.
