Blueberry Muffin Tops… By Hoch

June 11th, 2008

Sometimes it’s nice to share the wealth. Sometimes you find something and you just need to tell the entire world. Sometimes you discover something and you need to tell the 6 people that read your blog. That’s what I’m doing… I’m going to share some information with you now that may change your life for the better, as it has mine. That would be a nice direction for this blog to take… We all share important information with each other- information that makes all our lives easier.

Here’s the information I need to share with you: I have found a delicious new breakfast cereal called “Blueberry Muffin Tops” and it’s made by Malt-O-Meal. Most of you are probably too young to remember Malt-O-Meal, but us 38 year olds know the brand. But you’re not going to find this cereal at your local Publix or Winn Dixie, my friends. You’re going to have to go somewhere you may never have gone before to buy food… The Dollar Store!

Here’s how it happened… My wife and I took our son to Chuck E. Cheese in Boca the other day, and as we were leaving we noticed that a new dollar store had just opened next to Chuck E. Cheese. Neither of us could ever recall having been in a dollar store before, so we decided to go in and check it out. (Times are tough- four dollar gas and all.) I thought the dollar store was a wonderful experience… This may seem obvious, but it really is shocking when you’re walking around and EVERYTHING is a dollar. EVERYTHING.

I’m starting to digress. This blog was supposed to be about cereal. Well, we’re walking around this dollar store and I’m fascinated by it, but I’m thinking there’s no way in the world I would actually buy food from a dollar store. (Maybe candy.) And then I saw it… It was calling to me… A box of cereal called “Blueberry Muffin Tops.” Now, you should probably know that I’m already a cereal guy. I love cereal. I’ll often eat cereal for lunch or dinner… I ALWAYS check out the cereal aisle at Publix looking for new things. I’ve even ordered “Quisp” online before because you can’t get it in stores. So even though it was a dollar store, the cereal aisle piqued my interest.

Something about this “Blueberry Muffin Tops” cereal was calling to me. (I don’t even like blueberry muffins.) I figured, for a dollar, why not give it a shot… So I did. I bought a box. And a couple days later I opened it and sat down to eat a bowl. OH SWEET NECTAR! It was the greatest cereal I had ever tasted. I’m not joking… I’m not trying to be funny… I’m not getting paid for this. I’m telling you that a one dollar box of “Blueberry Muffin Tops” cereal made by Malt-O-Meal, bought at a dollar store, is my new, favorite cereal of all time. I recently returned to that dollar store and bought FIVE boxes of “Blueberry Muffin Tops” cereal. That was a five dollar investment in my future happiness.

So, there you have it. I’ve shared the wealth. Search it out… Find it… Drive to Boca if you must. But do yourself a favor, and try “Blueberry Muffin Tops” cereal by Malt-O-Meal. You can thank me in person at Dania Jai-Alai on June 18th.

Wow…you’ve never been to the dollar store???

  • 2. Mike  |  June 11th, 2008 at 3:07 pm

I once bought toothpaste from a dollar store. It tasted like plaster.

    Hoch,

I always thought Quisp tasted like Capt. Crunch. You should enjoy this.

Also if you folks haven’t checked out “Big Lots” you need to. Go look around, stuff is cheap.

Blueberry Muffin Tops? Next, you’ll be blogging about Cocoa Crisp — either the cereal or the ballplayer.

  • 5. TC  |  June 11th, 2008 at 6:55 pm

Its probably laced with Opium Hoch. How the hell else do you expect a $1 box of cereal to be good? You get what you pay for, ask Eliot Spitzer. You wouldnt find that broad in a $1 shop thats for sure. You would get whatever the hell Renaldo was looking for that night.

  • 6. manuel  |  June 11th, 2008 at 7:50 pm

Must be the sugar rush…sounds crappy though Hoch.

  • 7. james  |  June 11th, 2008 at 7:51 pm

Malt - o - Meal also makes CoCoRoos …imitations CoCoCrisp. They’re pretty good for 2 bucks at Walmart. It comes in a bag and its way bigger than the brand…same taste, not bad for 2 bucks.

Hoch, you’re nuts. Nothing good comes out of purchasing food products that cost one dollar. Hey, maybe you’ll start glowing or maybe even turn purple. I’m sure your kid would appreciate Hoch the Purple Producer.

  • 9. Horsemuffins.com  |  June 11th, 2008 at 7:53 pm

Thanks Hoch. I couldn’t give a bleep about muffin tops, but I was the guy who emailed you about Quisp. I appreciate the tip about ordering it online. I’d like to know how clean the dollar store looked? You find any suspicious “raisins” in that box of muffin tops?

I posted but the moderator will not accept my message. It has links so it says you comment is awaiting moderation. Come on Hoch Moderate me. I can take it, I’m a man I’m 43 and I would slide into second in softball.

  • 11. Hassenpfeffer  |  June 11th, 2008 at 8:04 pm

This blog reminds me of the Seinfeld episode “The Muffin Tops”. They had the store called “Top of the Muffin to You” that only sold the top of the muffins. Sorry my other post was better but I can’t get moderated. So sad :(

I had to break it up in 3 posts. Seems it will let you put one link in but not more than that. 14-16 should read as one post. This is the post script. I have more serial talk but since I have already taken up 1/3 of the post I stop for a while.

  • 18. El Raton  |  June 11th, 2008 at 10:47 pm

I just took five minutes out of my life to email the manager of the local Dollar General and tell him to carry BBMTs or else. God, that’s one of the stranger things I’ve ever done and I’m a pretty weird dude. Hoch, this shit better be tasty.

  • 19. Sherryl  |  June 11th, 2008 at 10:56 pm

In Hoch’s next blog, he will tell us about his journey down the pickle asile at his local Publix.

  • 22. Ryan Morgan  |  June 12th, 2008 at 2:11 pm

When I was in college, we used do all of our grocery shopping STRICTLY at The Dollar Tree. Because of this, I now have done irreversable damage to my arteries.

  • 23. Hoch  |  June 12th, 2008 at 4:16 pm

Just an update—- I just had Blueberry Muffin Tops cereal for lunch.

  • 24. TC  |  June 12th, 2008 at 4:48 pm

I think I see a sponsorship in your future Hochman! Coming soon to dollar stores everywhere, Executive Producer Marc Hochman eates Blueberry Muffin Top cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 1 year straight. Will his skin turn blue? Will he hair return? Will he gain the power of levitation? All is possible with Blueberry Muffin Top cereal and an desperate producer.

  • 25. FakeEddieMurphyLaugh  |  June 12th, 2008 at 4:59 pm

you find good stuff at dollar stores. check out this article. a gourmet chef made an entire meal out of stuff from a dollar store and fooled everyone. kinda like those Pizza Hut pasta commercials.

  • 26. cc  |  June 12th, 2008 at 6:25 pm

King, what is Zas’s favorite cereal Fruit Loops or Mini- Wheat ?

  • 27. Sherryl  |  June 12th, 2008 at 8:04 pm

Hoch also vacations in the frozen food section.

  • 28. Hassenpfeffer  |  June 13th, 2008 at 5:06 am

Do they still make Peanut Butter Capt. Crunch? I just had a thought if you mixed that with a chocolate cereal like Coco Pebbles or Coco Puffs that would be awesome.

The best thing about the coco cereal is that you have chocolate milk when you are done.

Hoch, WHAT no cereal for dinner? Where’s the update? I think for as long as this blog is up you should tell us when you had ceral and what it was.

    Me, breakfast is coffee, black.

  • 29. The Muffin Man  |  June 13th, 2008 at 11:00 am

I am glad you like my new cereal.

  • 30. King of Loserville  |  June 13th, 2008 at 2:04 pm

I would say Fruit Loops…but instead of milk he needs to eat it dry with a tall glass of SHUT UP JUICE!!!

Hoch what’s the deal? Rogaine snupped you, so your taking on a new sponsor??? The dollar store…man times are tough….

It’s all good…I will put 5 dollars into the Daytona Cubs Fund…

TC on second thought he’s such a douche…doesn’t eat ribs or something like that…that he probably doesn’t eat cereal…

He probably has his wife cook him some FARINA…

  • 31. cc  |  June 13th, 2008 at 3:46 pm

Yup Zas the Marlins miss D-train take a look at his numbers may not even get out of the minors. Stick to the only sport you can play or know shuffleboard

  • 32. Hassenpfeffer  |  June 13th, 2008 at 5:43 pm

CC, I am going to follow that up with: Cantu’s offensive numbers are better than Carbera’s. So he was wrong on that note also.

Back to cereal. If Frankenberry, Count Chocula and Boo Berry got into a fight, who would win?

  • 33. manuel  |  June 13th, 2008 at 5:59 pm

So how weird is that little freak Zas making sandwiches for his road trip with Producer Mike??

    Thoughts?

  • 34. cc  |  June 13th, 2008 at 7:19 pm

What road trip ? The guy thinks he is a celebrity look at his bio. The guy never played sports or know anthing about them. King, any ratings on the Little Man 5′6 tops

  • 35. The Muffin Man  |  June 13th, 2008 at 8:19 pm

Road Trip? Can he reach the pedals? Sandwiches? Because it’s a remote area and there is no fast food? What a putz.

  • 36. Anonymous  |  June 13th, 2008 at 8:35 pm

GET HIM A BOOSTER SEAT FOR ROAD TRIP

  • 37. Hassenpfeffer  |  June 13th, 2008 at 8:53 pm

Does Coco Crisp eat Cocoa Krispies. Get him on the show just to ask the question.

  • 38. Sherryl  |  June 13th, 2008 at 10:20 pm

No, Hass, Coco Crisp eats Pop Tarts. You silly wabbit.

  • 39. cc  |  June 13th, 2008 at 11:13 pm

Good point Hass, Cantu’s numbers are better from an offensive point. Is there a sport he knows ? Waiting to see King post his numbers so hopefully the little man has little ratings.

  • 40. manuel  |  June 14th, 2008 at 2:30 am

Lets not be ridiculous now guys….

Gun to your head, Cabrera or Cantu?

    ‘Nuff said.

  • 41. Hassenpfeffer  |  June 14th, 2008 at 4:36 am

manuel, I would take Cantu. WHY? because he doesn’t put on 30 pounds a year and doesn’t have an attitude. Both suck on defense.

  • 42. Hassenpfeffer  |  June 14th, 2008 at 4:55 am

Jack McKeon is a liar. I was the texter that had Dan ask the question regarding Josh Beckett. Jack told Beinfest and Samson that his nickname for Josh was High School Madonna. He did referrer to him as a prima donna and told Beinfest and Samson that he called Josh High School Madonna. This was at Manero’s restaurant in Hallandale Beach. If y’all recall when Jack managed the Marlins he stayed at his sister’s condo in Hallandale. He also attended 8am Mass at St. Matthews church. I did not ruin the interview, Jack is a liar.

  • 43. Hassenpfeffer  |  June 14th, 2008 at 4:59 am

This was in late July of 03. He also said that he told Josh until he proves himself he is nothing. Well I guess Josh proved it not only to Liar Jack bu tto the rest of the baseball world.

Get Josh on, I want redemetion.

  • 44. Sherryl  |  June 14th, 2008 at 5:37 am

Hassy, honey, if you come over here, I’ll show you a few new trix too. Woo Woo!

  • 45. roy jones jr  |  June 14th, 2008 at 3:35 pm

now these are the kinds of blags Hoch needs to have!
I do agree the that the cereal is probably laced with a drug & I agree with taking Cantu. Whats this?! the marlins are still over .500 in june? i guess sports experts are always right.

  • 46. cc  |  June 14th, 2008 at 3:41 pm

How ironic Zaslow’s road trip at nutrition store, the dude is the furthest thing from an athlete. Goldie is doing a nice job and wish he took the 7-10. As he is not just a hockey guy or the Dos , just say NO to Zas

  • 47. Hassenpfeffer  |  June 14th, 2008 at 5:32 pm

I am watching Euro-Cup. Sweeden vs. Spain. So Hoch :P LOL

  • 48. Sherryl  |  June 15th, 2008 at 2:27 pm

I went and looked around at my local Dollar Store the other day, and I did not see any Blueberry Muffin Tops ceral there. Apparently, that is only available in your area, Hoch. Sorry, and I was going to send a couple of boxes so you can your morning of your sweet nectur.

  • 49. cc  |  June 15th, 2008 at 2:50 pm

King, did you see the Zas is going to be at Max Muscle ? What seems out of place that is like Zaslow trying to talk sports.

  • 50. Hassenpfeffer  |  June 15th, 2008 at 10:36 pm

What the hell is Max Muscle and why would Zas be there? I have bought shrimp bigger than Zas at Publix. He is about the size of the muscles I ordered on the beach last night.

Oh Hoch, I am flipping between the US Open and Soccer, US vs. Barbados on ESPN2 and Mexico vs. Belize on Telemundo. Get with the game man it’s the number one sport in the WORLD. :p

If Trix are for kids what cereal is for adults?

  • 51. Sherryl  |  June 16th, 2008 at 12:45 am

    Blueberry Muffin Tops?

  • 52. SOG knives&hellip  |  July 19th, 2008 at 5:37 am

    SOG knives

Interesting ideas… I wonder how the Hollywood media would portray this?
